My name is Karen Taylor and I trained originally as a Ballet Dancer and over the past 10 years I have developed the iambarre method.
Since retiring from ballet and the birth of my 3 children, I had always kept up my fitness, but I wanted more; a technique that allowed me to retain my dancer’s body without the stress to the body and joints that a professional level of ballet can have; particularly as you get older. Over time and having worked with hundreds of men and women, of all body types, ages and levels of fitness, I have developed and evolved the iambarre method. iambarre will show you how to tap into small precise movements, feel muscles you never knew you had, with more intensity than you ever thought possible. This is the feeling I had once experienced in ballet class, I knew this was the way to a lean, toned physique with the perky ‘ballet bum’ so evident in ballet dancers and better still, it was suitable for anyone, even if they had never done a ballet class in their lives (as is the case with most of my students today.)
Alongside my ballet training and my many years of teaching, I also hold a diploma in the Lotte Berk Method, a technique developed, by the late contemporary dancer, Lotte Berk. It was Lotte, who designed the first ever barre based exercise programme over 40 years ago. My 9 month course at the Lotte Berk Studio in Fulham, was both practical and theoretical, and included anatomy, physiology, and the study of skeletal muscles, posture, core stability and exercise before and after pregnancy.
I teach such a diverse range of women of all ages, I am inspired daily to see them progress and the joy they take in their new found shape, improved flexibility and posture and this coupled with the friendships my clients forge with their fellow class mates gives me immense pleasure and job satisfaction.
As a dancer, I have developed a natural instinct for alignment and anatomy over decades of training and because of this, I am always able help my clients develop faster, but safely, into their strongest and fittest selves!
Since opening the demand for classes has been overwhelming as more and more people hear rave reviews about iambarre classes from their friends and colleagues and we continue to add to our timetable. Why not join us and come and find out what all the fuss is about?
I look forward to meeting you!
